Introduction

The University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons (FHGR) was founded in 1963. This public federal institution is comprised of six faculties, each offering Bachelor's, Master's, and further education programs. With approximately 2000 students, FHGR provides an excellent learning environment with an intimate atmosphere, modern facilities, and small, student-oriented classes. The University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons is a regionally based university with national and international flair. Bachelor, Master, and further education studies are offered in the six faculties of "Civil Engineering and Architecture", "Information Science", "Management", "Media and Communication", "ICT/Technology" and "Tourism".

Tourism is a multi-faceted, fast-growing international industry sector and the focus of the Institute for Tourism and Leisure (ITF) as the innovative, entrepreneurial research and training center with Bachelor and Master study programs in Eastern Switzerland. The ITF concentrates on the thematic areas of destination management, consumer behavior, hospitality, and sustainability.

The bachelor study course of Tourism is the first international study course at the University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland that is specifically designed to meet the needs of the tourism industry. The study course, held in German and English, imparts all the necessary knowledge and expertise about tourism, leisure, and the service industry. This knowledge is further extended through a variety of projects and group work. Furthermore, the bachelor's study course with a major in Service Design offers a tourism degree with a high focus on customer-centered service design and data science. This course is fully held in German and takes place on a part-time basis.

The master study course specializing in tourism provides further expertise and may be completed with a minimum study time of one and a half years and acquiring the relevant study credits

Campus Features

The International Office assists foreign students in finding accommodation.

Flat-shares: Rent a room in a shared apartment (approx. CHF 500–750 per month).

Student residence Scalära: A limited number of rooms are available for English-speaking exchange students and international students in their first year of studies. Rooms are furnished, there is free Wi-Fi, laundry facilities and a cafeteria providing good quality set menus.

Rent for semester (incl. half-board) CHF 3,633, Deposit CHF 800.
