The specialty of “Computer Application Technology” of School of Computer and Technology, Harbin Engineering University was qualified for granting master’s degree in 1983 and qualified for granting doctor’s degree in 1998.Now in this specialty, there are 22 professors, 34 associate professors; there are more than 400 graduates for master’s degree and more than 100 graduates for doctor’s degree in this university; there are more than 700 postgraduates graduated and gained master’s degree and 19 postgraduates graduated and gained doctor’s degree.

Master in Control Theory & Control Engineering

The discipline of Control Theory and Control Engineering is a key discipline of our University. There are many research fields in this discipline. An important feature of the discipline is the interaction between theoretical studies and realistic constraints of industrial problems.

The main research field of discipline includes robust control, intelligent system, artificial neural network, genetic algorithm, adaptive theory, non-linear control.

In application, many techniques such as ship motion control, rolling reducing control, ship’s dynamical positioning, the ship electrical propeller control and adaptive autopilot rudder have been applied on many kinds of ships.... [-]

MEng Degree in Electromagnetic Field and Microwave Technology

This Electromagnetic Field and Microwave Technology discipline is Master degree conferring site.There are 7 professors and 1 associate professors, 6 doctor tutors and 2 master tutors. The discipline belongs to Electrical Science and Technology Discipline, it is the base of remote communication, high-frequency communication and electromagnetism compatible. Many new technologies are also on the basis of electromagnetic field and microwave technology, such as Radar, mobile communication, microwave remote sensing, electrical antagonize, intellect antenna, ray and microwave interaction.

This discipline has applied widely in spaceflight, national defence and economy. But with the rapid development of digital communication technology and electrical computer, many students choose popular majors such as communication and computer, which results in few intellects in this field. The master site of the electromagnetic field and microwave technology has been founded again since the year 2003, further researching in electromagnetic and microwave technology. In order to cultivate high-level theory researchers and engineers, the discipline is tracing the trend of the international development, improving the level of applications in the electromagnetic field and microwave technology. Labs for teaching and researching are Microwave technology lab, electrical field, electrical wave lab, and microwave darkroom. Master in Marine Engine Engineering

Marine Engine Engineering is a synthetical discipline of advanced science and technology, centralized on thermal, mechanical, electrical and automation engineering to train excellent students who deal with design, maintenance, management and research on ship power plants. This discipline was based on the group of warship internal combustion engine (1953) of Harbin Military Institute - HMI, marine gas turbine (1958 HMI) and so on.

Authorized discipline for Master Degree was approved by the Office of Academic Degree of Chinese Government in 1989. There are 19 teachers (15 Professors, 2 Associate Professors and 2 lectures, including 12 Ph.D. holders) who conduct research on Marine Engineering for a long time. Four special research areas have a dominant position in China, focusing on the performance and system analysis for ship power plant totality, vibration and noise control for ship power plants, automatic and measurement for ship power plants and special power plants. Master in Mechatronic Engineering

In 1995, the authority of Master’s Degree of Mechatronic Engineering was acquired, and in 2002 the Doctor’s Degree was authorized. The main research areas include Robotic technique/Mechatronic system control and auto-immunization/Hydraulic transmission and control/Sensor and Measurement-control Technology. About forty research projects of state-level and local government-level are being carried out now. Many research achievements, such as “Underwater Tool Operation Storehouse”, have been acquired. Having formed the teaching and researching team which has strong research competence，rich teaching experiences and rational age composition. MEng Communication and Information System

This Communication and Information System discipline is a site conferring Master and Doctor degree.There are 20 professors and 9 associate professors, 5 doctor tutors and 24 master tutors. The discipline was granted the right of conferring M.Eng in 1989 and D.Eng in 1996. This discipline has taken the lead in a super-wide band information system, ranked first-class in modern communication and information system in north-east China. Since its first enrollment, many innovative and excellent intellects are cultivated for economy construction and national defense modernization. Now there are more than 300 MEng students in studying. More than 200 papers are published and over 50 of them were indexed by SCI, EI, and ISTP; 55 projects of national and ministry level and 26 projects of industry sectors are undertaken. 2 projects are conferred second-class award of Heilongjiang province technology progress, 1 project is conferred third class award. Labs for teaching and researching are super-wide information system lab, communication system lab center, virtual lab, which are cost 800,000yuan RMB. M.Eng in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering

Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering (NAOE) at College of Shipbuilding Engineering (CSE) of Harbin Engineering University has more than 50 years history. Its predecessor is a key department, the Navy Engineering Department, of Harbin Military Engineering Institute, set up in 1953. CSE serves in educating high-quality researchers, technicians, and engineers through rigorous studies and practices of relevant subjects. This discipline is ranked in this country one of the leading establishments in regard to educational training, scientific and technical research and engineering design, and enjoys the fame as “China’s shipbuilding engineers’ cradle”.... MEng Degree in Optical Engineering

This Optical Engineering discipline is Master degree conferring site, there are 3 professors, 2 doctor tutors and 1 master tutors. Though the discipline was granted the right of conferring M.E until the year 1996, the fibre technology academy was founded in 1985, it became the few teaching and researching site of Chinese universities (It is the single site that research fibre in north-east China). Much technology has stored in science and research field. In recent years, fibre transmission theory, fiber apparatus and fiber sensors are in developing. Several national defence pre-research funds and other funds are undertaken.

The discipline bears the responsibility of cultivating high-level intellects and teaching and research in fibre field. 5 projects of national and ministry level and 2 projects of industry sectors are undertaken, several leading research results have got in these years. Over 30 papers are published in important journals and conferences such as “Electrical Journal”, “Communication Journal”, “Photics Journal” and “Acoustics Journal”, etc. 7 papers have been indexed by SCI、EI、ISTP. 2 academy books had been published and a research group has come into being. MEng Degree in Signal and Information Processing

This Signal and Information Processing discipline is MEng and Ph.D. degree conferring site. There are 16 professors and 3 associate professors, 4 doctor tutors and 15 master tutors. The discipline was granted the right of conferring M.E in 1986 and Ph.E in the year 2000. During “The tenth five year plan”, we have deeply developed the research of non-linear information signal processing and visual image recognition, especially in morphology filter and stack filter technology. Master students are researching in these fields and accumulate many experiences in technology. Many awards of teaching and researching are conferred. In recent years, over 50 papers are published in journals and conferences and over 30 papers of them were indexed by SCI、EI and ISTP. More than 30 projects of national and ministry level and 18 projects of industry sectors are undertaken. One project is conferred second-class award of Hei longjiang province technology progress, one project is conferred third class award. Labs for teaching and researching are Intellect information processing lab, underwater multi-sensor information processing lab, image processing lab, etc. There are lots of information processing equipment and development instruments and many young promising teachers in the frontline of research work. Master in Nuclear Energy Science and Engineering

This Nuclear Energy Science and Engineering specialty was founded in 1980. At present, it has a teacher staff consisting of 10 professors and 1 associate professor in 6 research fields, that including Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) Performance, Safety and Reliability of Nuclear Reactor and NPP, Control and Test of Nuclear Reactor and NPP, NPP Operation and Simulation, NPP Equipments and Thermo-hydraulics of NPP.

The aim of this specialty is training the graduate students to be the high-level professional talents, mastery of the basic theory about Engineering Thermo-physics and Nuclear Energy Engineering, in the fields such as research, design, manufacture, operation and management of nuclear power engineering. The main courses included Nuclear Reactor Engineering, Advanced Heat Transfer, Mathematic Physical Method, Nuclear Power Plant, Nuclear Power Plant Components, Nuclear Turbine, Nuclear Power Plant Control, Nuclear Safety, Nuclear Power Plant Operation and Simulation, and so on.... Master in Power Machinery and Engineering

Marine Engine Engineering is a synthetical discipline of advanced science and technology, centralized on thermal, mechanical, electrical and automation engineering to train excellent students who deal with design, maintenance, management and research on ship power plants.

There are more than 50 research projects (including 30 of them were completed, 20 of them had awards from the government and 20 of them are conducting now) and total funds of them are 76.25 Million RMB. In the tenth five year plan of developing, this discipline is the stress construction discipline of our University, pursuing research on the internal combustion engine, gas turbine engine, and combined power plants. The master students of Marine Engine take part in these researches. There are five important laboratories: marine internal combustion engine lab, marine power plant vibration & noise control lab, combined power plant lab, steam power plant lab, and special power plant lab. In this discipline, there is some application software also. These facilities are the research basements for training the masters.... [-]
