Saint Louis University's Master of Science in Aviation is a fully online, rigorous program that prepares graduates for leadership roles within the aviation industry. A master’s degree in aviation provides technical depth and specialization that can expand career opportunities and responsibilities. The Master of Commercial Aviation program provides a focused understanding of aviation concepts and operations. The program is oriented toward aviation management and aviation education.

The Graduate Group in Avian Sciences offers the M.S. degree program to students who wish to pursue specialized advanced work on avian species. Specializations students may choose include behavior, nutrition, physiology, reproduction, pathology, immunology, toxicology, food chemistry, management, ecology, genetics, comparative incubation, environmental physiology, and cellular and developmental studies using wild and domestic birds as experimental animals. Both master's degree plans, thesis and comprehensive examination, are available.

The MTSU Department of Aerospace offers three Master of Science in Aeronautical Science concentrations. The Aviation Management concentration is a management and operations-oriented degree program designed in cooperation with industry representatives. The study focuses on airport activities and organizational structures, aviation contracts and leases, and aviation systems management. The Aviation Education concentration is designed to serve students interested in the conduct of aviation education, training, or professional development programs, or in the administration of such programs. Students in this concentration take classes in both the Aerospace Department and MTSU College of Education. The Safety and Security Management concentration is designed to provide students the knowledge and expertise necessary to develop and manage aviation safety and security programs. Studies include safety management systems (SMS), aviation security, aviation safety investigation, and human factors in aviation.

The Master in Management - Aviation Leadership (MMAL) degree is a 30 credit hour program that prepares graduates for a career in any aspect of leadership and managerial roles in the aviation industry. Students have the opportunity to explore and learn ethical and effective leadership and management processes or behaviors that apply to any aviation-related operations, including domestic and international airlines, airports, corporate aviation, and fixed-base operators (FBO).

This degree will provide entry- or mid-level professionals with the skills and knowledge to advance in general management and aviation-related organizations. It will raise awareness of and enhance business concepts in the general management and aviation fields.

The Master of Aviation Science degree program is designed for aviation professionals as it offers a rigorous, broad-based curriculum to help students gain mastery of the aviation field. Students will complete technical aviation coursework that will include the intensive analysis of airway transportation systems, airport operations, aerospace communication systems, aerospace logistics, aircraft simulation, advanced crew resource management procedures, aerospace systems safety, and advanced security and safety program management as part of their masters in aviation studies. Students of the master's in aviation degree will apply the knowledge and skills learned throughout the program by completing a required Capstone Project in their last academic term. This course is only offered online.

It is in response to the significant increase in the transportation of people and goods by air transport. The International Air Transportation forecasts a doubling of air traffic to 7.8 billion trips per year by 2036. Air Cargo is expected to reach 150 million tons shipped per year in the same forecast.
