The Master of Financial Management provides an opportunity for you to enhance your career opportunities by developing further professional and personal skills, and knowledge in Financial Management areas.


You will learn to plan, organise, direct and control financial activities such as obtaining funds and using funds for investments. You will study topics such as investment management, financial strategy, financial statement analysis and learn how to review the global financial system and understand the principles of descriptive and inferential statistics and their applications in the business environment.

For a 2 year program, this degree can be combined with a second Master’s degree from Sydney Business School, UOW. Choose your second master’s degree from the list below:

Course Learning Structure

Course Learning Outcomes are statements of learning achievement that are expressed in terms of what the learner is expected to know, understand and be able to do upon completion of a course. Students graduating from this course will be able to demonstrate:

1Demonstrate specialised knowledge of advanced concepts and frameworks relating to financial management.
2Synthesise financial management principles and concepts in a business context.
3Propose integrated solutions to a range of problems using theoretical knowledge, technical skills, critical and/ or creative thinking.
4Plan and Execute a substantial research-based finance project.
5Apply principles of social responsibility when critically evaluating situations and making business decisions.
6Communicate complex disciplinary information for the intended audience and purpose; (a) orally and, (b) in writing.
7Reflect on professional interpersonal skills whilst working with others to produce agreed outputs.

Entry Requirements

To gain entry into the Master of Financial Management, we require you to have a recognised bachelor’s degree with an equivalent average mark of 50%, or a Graduate Certificate in Business. IELTS score of Overall 6.5 (R:6, W:6, L:6, S:6).
