Introduction
The DEIN-Circular Master provides advanced, specialized and multidisciplinary training in the field of sustainable economic development and innovation, with two alternative profiles, one oriented towards R&D and innovation management and policies and the other to the Circular Economy and sustainable development.
In this course, the contents of the Master are reformulated, reinforcing its approach towards eco-innovation, sustainability, ecological transition and the Circular Economy. Combining critical theoretical training, analysis and management tools in organizations and the analysis and design of public policies, as well as internships in companies and institutions.
The DEIN-Circular Master is oriented especially to graduates in Economics and Business Administration and Management and also to graduates in other social sciences such as Politics, Sociology, Geography, Information Sciences, Law and others such as Industrial and Agricultural Engineering, Experimental Sciences. ..
The DEIN Master trains students for professional opportunities in the fields of:
- R&D and innovation management in companies and public institutions, technology centers, R&D laboratories, etc.;
- management of plans and projects of Circular Economy and sustainable development at regional and local level;
- consultancy specialized in innovation management, innovation policies, European R&D projects, Innovation and Circular Economy, innovative strategies, regional and local development, sustainable development and circular economy.
- Scientific and academic research (PhD) in these fields.
Curriculum
The Master consists of 60 ECT credits, with a mandatory common core and two optional specialties (Research and Innovation Management and Sustainability and Circular Economy). It is organized in four modules:
The core sustainable development and innovation module is mandatory and is made up of 10 subjects of which 9 must be taken (27 ECTS):
- Models of Accumulation and Structural Change
- Ecological Economy and Sustainability
- Innovation Economy
- National and Regional Innovation Systems
- Trade, Innovation and Sustainability
- Environmental and innovative policies
- Strategic Planning and Design of Programs and Projects
- Measurement and Indicators of Sustainability and Innovation
- Evaluation and Financing of Investment Projects (Recommended elective for professional academic orientation)
- Applied Research Methodology and Techniques in Development, Sustainability and Innovation (Recommended elective for research orientation)
The specialization Module is optional, and you must choose between the specialization options of Research and Innovation Management or the specialization of Sustainability and Circular Economy. Within each of the modules, 9 subjects are offered, of which the student must take 7 (21 ECTS).

The last module, Application, is mandatory, has a teaching load of 12 ECTS and the subjects vary depending on the chosen orientation. It differs depending on the successive orientation by the student:
Academic-professional orientation
1. External internships: 6 credits
2. Final Master's Project: 6 credits
Research orientation
1. External research internships: 6 credits
2. Final Master's Project: 6 credits
Students who come from degrees other than Economics or Business Administration (or equivalent degrees) must necessarily take complementary training. There are three introductory subjects:
- Introduction to Economics (3 credits)
- Introduction to Business and Finance (3 credits)
- Introduction to Econometrics (3 credits)
The teaching regime is face-to-face and class attendance is mandatory. There is the option of requesting part-time enrollment, which consists of taking 30 ECTS credits in two academic years.
The master's schedule is in the afternoons. The teaching languages will be Galician and Spanish. In specific cases (conferences, seminars, etc.) in which foreign speakers participate, these sessions will be taught in English.
Program Outcome
The fundamental objective of the Master's Degree in Economic Development and Innovation is to provide participants with advanced training, of a specialized and multidisciplinary nature, aimed at academic-professional or research specialization in the field of R&D and innovation management. innovation and sustainable development and the Circular Economy.
