Introduction
Through a participatory methodology, the aim is for students to acquire advanced knowledge in Business Management and the ability to apply them, while developing management skills. The Master has three curricular orientations: academic, professional and research.
The objective of the Official Master in Business Administration of the Santiago campus (MBA) is to equip students with the most relevant management skills, providing them with a global and inclusive vision of the functional areas of the company, both from a theoretical perspective and applied.
The Official Master in Business Administration of the Santiago campus (MBA) has three curricular orientations: academic, professional and research.
The participatory methodology used in the face-to-face classes - case analysis, resolution of exercises, role-playing, debate questions, presentations, together with the completion of a Master's Thesis and Compulsory Practices -in professional orientation-, contribute to facilitate success in the labor market in the field of:
- Business management
- strategic direction
- Business consultancy and advice.
- Business creation
- Operation management
- Accounting-financial management
- Commercial management
- Human resource management, etc.
Curriculum
The Master has a total of 60 credits, distributed over two semesters, and includes a 6-credit master's thesis.
The Master is face-to-face, so classes are taught mostly in the afternoon, facilitating compatibility with students who may be working. There are also 3 places on offer to be able to take the master's degree part-time.
The Official Master's Degree in Business Management at the Santiago campus (MBA) has three curricular orientations:
- Academic orientation
- Professional orientation
- Research orientation.
In the first semester, 7 compulsory subjects are taught (36 ECTS credits). In the second semester, elective credits are taught, so that students must take 18 elective credits to choose from 7 elective subjects. In professional orientation, it is mandatory to complete 13.5 credits of external internships and 4.5 credits of elective subjects.
In the research orientation, students must necessarily take the credits corresponding to the subject "Research methodology for business management" (4.5 ECTS) and carry out the supervised research work linked to this option.
The research option is aimed at training researchers in the area of Business Management. The research orientation aims to provide the necessary skills to carry out the doctoral thesis, oriented towards research in the different areas of business management and university teaching. In this way, in the new regulatory framework for doctoral education, at USC master's degree holders can access doctoral programs related to these areas, such as the Doctorate Program in Economics and Business, taught in the Faculty of Sciences itself. Economic and Business.
Students who do not meet the skills of the degrees linked to Business Management must complete a preparatory module made up of two subjects: Fundamentals of Finance (2 ECTS credits) and Fundamentals of Accounting (2 ECTS credits). Students from the Economics degree must take, on a mandatory basis, the subject of Fundamentals of Finance and it is recommended that they take the subject Fundamentals of Accounting.
The teaching languages are Spanish and Galician.
Program Outcome
Students must have passed the training period of the Master in Business Management, or obtain the equivalence of skills to access the research period of the doctoral program.
The doctoral program establishes as a requirement during the training period that students take the subject "Research methodology in business management" and carry out the supervised research work linked to this option.
Once the students accredit the aforementioned requirements and are admitted to the program, they will be able to begin the research period leading to the completion and reading of the doctoral thesis.
