Introduction
SDU invites you to a unique program in International Business (IB) that offers two years of research insights and theoretical knowledge applied to real-world case-challenges. You will be prepared for challenges related to the development of international business and marketing strategies in light of global megatrends, strategic partnerships, and marketing channels and therewith for positions in many functional areas around the world.
The program comprises six compulsory courses in the first two semesters (60 ECTS), 30 ECTS to be collected in elective courses in the third semester, and the master thesis in the fourth semester (30 ECTS). The compulsory courses offer insights into international business strategy, international strategic partnerships, marketing channels, and how to market across cultures, innovation in light of technological megatrends, and provide relevant analytical or method skills. We offer a rich portfolio of elective courses at SDU that you can use to customize your study program. You can also use the third semester to study abroad for which SDU has many partners. If you have another partner selected, we check acceptance of courses before you go to ensure that you will collect the relevant ECTS.

Program structure
The program lasts two years. It comprises six compulsory courses in the first two semesters (60 ECTS), 30 ECTS to be collected in elective courses in the third semester, and the master thesis in the fourth semester (30 ECTS). Students starting in February begin with the courses listed as the second semester and then go on to the courses listed as the first semester before they choose elective courses and write the master thesis.
The teaching form is a mix of traditional lectures, project assignments, and individual and group assignments, as well as case-based teaching. Our courses provide insights into state-of-the-art research as well as a good mixture of theoretical foundations and practical applications of theoretical knowledge to business practice.
Our academic year is divided into two semesters, each comprising 15 weeks of instruction. The autumn semester starts on 1 September and ends just before Christmas. The spring semester starts on 1 February and ends around 1 June. Exams take place in January and June respectively.

Specific competencies for the profile in International Business Marketing
The focus area of the profile is international business and marketing, including an advanced understanding of the international business environment and the development of a global perspective on firms operating in different national and cultural contexts. The graduates gain knowledge about and skills in using methods and tools, which can support the firm’s relationship to the external environment with specific emphasis on the customer. They gain competencies that qualify for a career as country manager, marketing manager, import or export manager, consultant in international business and marketing, or more specifically for a position related to foreign business development, international sales, and innovation management.

The graduate can communicate his/her knowledge and discuss professional and scientific issues with colleagues, management, and the surrounding society.

An MSc in Economics and Business Administration can, within the area of the profile, manage work and development situations that are complex, unpredictable and require new models for solutions. The graduate can independently initiate and implement professional and interdisciplinary cooperation and take on professional responsibility. The graduate can independently take responsibility for his/her own professional development and specialization. An MSc in Economics and Business Administration allows graduates to solve specialist tasks within the various functional areas of organizations within the public and private sectors.
