Introduction
Across the globe, organisations are seeking dynamic managers with the skills to work anywhere in the world. Kick-start a career in business with our new MSc International Business Management which is aimed at students who want to gain the specialist skills, in-depth business knowledge and global mind-set to succeed.
The main emphasis of this 16-month programme is on the development of leadership and management skills through critical awareness and strategic thinking about the dynamic world of business.
It’s also a highly topical programme. Our MSc will give you an understanding of contemporary management issues in an ever-changing business environment, and the chance to apply your knowledge to real-life management challenges, through such opportunities as an internship to extend your practical skills and experience.
This programme prepares you for a huge variety of business roles in a global context, whether you’re interested in entrepreneurship, global innovation, corporate strategy, consultancy or multinational management. Not only that, you will also have gained both a UK and US degree with one programme, creating more opportunities on graduation.
Our MSc International Business Management programme will equip you with an understanding of international business organisations, their cultures, and the changing global environment in which they operate. Our staff and students are drawn from all over the world with widely varied expertise, making this MSc a truly international programme.
The MSc begins with a study of contemporary management ideas and practice, looking at such topics as Business Communication Skills which are vital both for personal development and career progression within any industry. Advanced English for Business Studies will extend these communication skills even further, highly relevant for both English speaking students and non-English speakers.
Other courses in the first semester (Fall starters) including Managing Across Cultures and Quantitative Analysis for Decision Makers will enhance your critical thinking and teamwork skills in a highly interactive and stimulating environment.
In the second semester (Fall starters), courses including International Business, Leadership Development and Sustainable Business Strategies, will examine future trends in business, from the changing role of business in society to the impact that rapidly evolving technology has on business in a global context. In our two finance courses, you will explore crucial questions surrounding international trade, global financial markets, regulation, pricing, how to evaluate financial performance, the psychology of financial decision making and the importance of interest rates and exchange rates for international business.
Extend your business skills knowledge with the courses in the third semester which encompass research, operations management and how to market international products and services.
You’ll have the choice in the final semester of doing either an internship with a dissertation or an extended research project, both great opportunities to provide hands-on experience to increase your employability.
Throughout, you will be learning from faculty who have global industry experience, as well as invited guest speakers, providing you with a solid foundation in strategic business management.
