Master of Arts (Arts and Cultural Entrepreneurship)
The Master of Arts in Arts and Cultural Entrepreneurship, with its focus on creativity and creative entrepreneurship, is designed to cater to the needs of creative professionals and meet the strong demands of Singapore’s and Asia’s ever-changing cultural creative industry sector. It examines the uses of creativity as a progressive force for culture, economy and society. Students will learn from industry practitioners and professional educators about entrepreneurial creativity and how it shapes new enterprises and leads to entrepreneurial growth. Through core strategic skills in the administration, management and leadership of arts and cultural organisations, resources and infrastructures, from managing festivals, events and museums to working in community development, heritage tourism, education and government, students will acquire professional skills and knowledge to succeed in the arts, cultural and creative sectors, and become highly skilled, ethical and reflective practitioners committed to making a contribution to the sector.
Why This Programme?
- Collaboration with NUS’s arts infrastructure. This Programme will partner with the NUS Centre for the Arts to leverage the prestige associated with the NUS branding, as well as collaborate with NUS’s existing arts infrastructure, such as the NUS Museum, NUS Baba House, and its University Cultural Centre. The Programme will draw on its spaces, expertise and collections in the delivery of its teaching. This partnership will expose students directly to our University’s rich cultural resources and immerse students directly in the industry through experiential learning.
- Partnership with Culture Academy Singapore (Ministry of Culture, Community & Youth). This Programme will also partner with the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth’s Culture Academy Singapore, a government agency dedicated to training the next generation of arts and culture leaders in the country and region. It will collaborate across masterclasses and workshops and provide a learning opportunity for our students to professionalise and network with arts and culture thought leaders, as well as for NUS expert teachers to train MCCY’s up-and-coming arts and culture managers.
- World-class Expertise and Networking are offered by FASS faculty members as opportunities to network with leaders in the arts and creative sectors.
- Internship programme: The optional internship is a key experiential learning platform where students will be equipped with skills through application-led theory and practice for career progression.
