Languages at EDC Paris BS
The track "english track"
The "English track" course is accessible to students from the 1st year.
It allows to follow all the courses all in English. If a good level of language is required at the entrance, it is not necessary to be bilingual: EDC Paris BS has implemented a language learning methodology of its own and allows real and measurable progress.
Department of Cultures & Civilizations
Learning two foreign languages is compulsory. English is the first foreign language and students can choose between German, Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, French (as a foreign language), Italian and Portuguese as their second language. foreign. When the number of students is not sufficient to constitute a class with at least ten people, it is possible to follow the learning of another second language in a partner institution such as, for example, Dutch, Hebrew and Russian.
The aim of teaching is to enable learners to improve their language skills, to promote the internationalization of their profile and to increase their employability.
A level test is conducted at the beginning of the first year for English and for Spanish which is the second language with the highest number of learners at school. The pedagogy developed is based on level groups as well as the needs and motivations of the students and all the content of the lessons is calibrated to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The first two years are devoted to intensive work in order to acquire the general and commercial skills needed to prepare students for their third year abroad. For the few students remaining in school in the third year, teaching, which is done only in the first semester, is devoted to learning the skills needed to find an internship or a job.
The assessment of language learning is conducted throughout the school curriculum. In order to measure progress, students must pass the TOEFL which assesses level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. This exam was put in place because it allows to have a certification of the level of the students in English without limitation of duration of validity and because our international partners request a formal evaluation. It also accurately determines the level of English language proficiency at the end of the second year and the work that remains to be done to continue to progress.
Finally, the fourth year is devoted to the preparation of the TOEIC, for which students aim for a score of 800 points or more. Intensive preparation for the WiDaF test and the Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE) is also offered to learners of German and Spanish.
The entrepreneurial approach
The student-entrepreneur course
OBJECTIVES
The Student-Entrepreneur Pathway (PEE) fits perfectly into the entrepreneurial DNA of the school, and has two objectives:
- Respond to the problem of reconciling student status with the entrepreneur's profession
- Meet the Academic Requirements of Graduation Master's Degree
Modalities
It is a course made to measure with a layout of the compulsory courses that each student must follow according to his year of studies. The rule followed in the choice of subjects is the following: obligation to follow all the legal, financial and linguistic matters (LV1 at least, the LV2 being maintained if it is relevant with regard to the entrepreneurial project) to the program of the year of studies. The time allowed for the student allows him to confront the reality of the field individually and collectively, and thus acquire entrepreneurial skills that will be regularly evaluated by his entrepreneurial reference.
Being able to be joined at any stage of the curriculum, it offers all the necessary flexibility to the "student entrepreneur" who will be able to face the various obligations that his project assumes. The selected students benefit from multiple support mechanisms with referent partners, in particular EDC Capital.
ADMISSION
After a favorable decision by a jury (made up of entrepreneurs, representatives of EDC Paris BS partners (EDC Capital, Incubator of the National School of Arts and Crafts, Astrolabe Conseil ...), the student entrepreneur will be followed by a referent teacher-researcher and will be able to access all incubator, incubator and capital input devices.
