Panta Rei Studies Center
For the integration of Psychology, Medicine and Neurosciences
The Professional Association Panta Rei Study Center was founded in 1997 in the province of Como (Italy) by the will of Leaf Manzillo Maria Cristina (psychologist, psychotherapist and graduate in medicine and surgery) Register of Psychologists of Lombardy (No. 03 / 4845) and Nasti Nunzio (psychologist and psychotherapist) registered in the Register of Psychologists of Lombardia (n ° 03/4998).
The Center was created by the will of two psychotherapists (Nasti Leaf Manzillo Nunzio and Maria Cristina) grew up together in the years of the University and the subsequent four years of graduate school and, in the meantime, they married.
The name of Studies Center It was not chosen at random. The phrase "Panta Rei" immediately brings to the ancient Greek philosophy and in particular to a philosopher, Heraclitus. The phrase is commonly translated into Italian as "Everything flows" or "Everything becomes." E 'was chosen because it is well suited to our lifestyle choices that our field of study.
The two of us made "Everything changes" a point of reference for our lives. In fact, we agreed on this: "If something in our lives we meet, not worth it to try to change it." We did not want to live to regret not having had the courage.
As young men, not being satisfied with the place where we lived (the former "Campania Felix"), made the decision to come to the North, chose Como, a place completely unknown: we knew, by that decision, we would have paid or earned person. And so it was. Initially we paid much, at times too much but then, with the passage of time, we were both happy with the decision that have been able to endure the pain and to build our Center. Little by little, brick by brick, with infinite patience our little project is growing. Our experience was not different from a psychotherapy course with the foreseeable difficulties to tear some roots to plant new ones, with attempts to demolish and rebuild, to transform and to smooth, to expand and modify their horizon. We think, in fact, that we could not present ourselves to patients without having the courage to change what we did not like. How we could drive another person on a path that we ourselves had avoided?
And so we try to embody what our profession has taught us and to put to use the tools has equipped us.
The way we look at the change is not as extreme as anything that characterizes us. No extreme perspective belongs to us. We believe that too much change is like not changing.
The Our Mission
We like the scientific spirit because it is potentially democratic, it has a collective soul, is open to modification in the interest of knowledge. We write "potentially" because science is made by scientists who are human beings and introduce our weaknesses in science.
We love psychology, medicine and neuroscience. We are very attracted to the man's ability to deal with difficult situations, to be able to get up even after a heavy thud. We like resilience (the ability of man to address constructively the inevitable difficulties of life). That's why we have studied the materials mentioned above and we are full of admiration for the new discoveries of neuroscience unimaginable for most of the old science that has opposed this and it still does not integrate the new findings in his daily clinical do. We like to take care of others (let us not be manipulated or exploited by others, or to lawyers of lost causes at the start, attention!). We think social relationships are good quality quite a fertile ground for human serenity. So it is for us.
The nature is another of our interests. We try to pollute less, recycle at best, to use composting at home, to buy food "zero km" from local producers to promote organic farming methods, to take advantage of a walk to clear a path (pains back permitting).
Our main interests:
Psychology
Although we specialize in cognitive-behavioral therapy, an approach that is the foundation of our professional training, we are involved in recognizing many other approaches their worthy place in the psychological clinic. This makes our counseling pathways "stimulating" and "immersive" both for students and for teachers but also "challenging."
Medicine
A passion felt by both as the one for psychology.
Studies have been and still are fascinating to Maria Cristina, engaged in a long journey, even by serious health problems that have seen both student is ill hospitalized in various departments.
This accounts for the suffering if we look at times attitudes in medicine not exactly in keeping with that which would be "the elegance and professionalism of the medical profession."
neuroscience
The love for the functioning of the body and mind see their highest expression in the interest of neuroscience at the base there are modern studies on the formation of brain circuits in life and on the plasticity of the same. They are opening unexpected and contrasting scenarios for centuries in medicine and neurology "classic" on the brain's ability to reprogram itself and deal with adversity that also comes to see if it comes to stroke outcomes now taken place years ago. The prospects are very promising for the future of neurological diseases and conditions considered immutable for centuries.
