Introduction
Overview
The Criminal Justice Degree Program is designed for students who are interested in exploring and pursuing topics related to criminal and social justice. Students who enroll in our program typically desire to pursue criminal justice career options. At Albany State, we are determined to ensure a rigorous program that is based on theoretical foundations, practical application, community engagement, and research. Our goal is to ensure that our students develop analytical, problem-solving, and intellectual abilities that can be applied in the global marketplace. Our criminal justice faculty members are focused on and committed to ensuring that students are exposed to cultural contemporary and historic discipline concepts and issues. Further, we intend and expect that our students will be prepared to engage in scholarship and leave us prepared to advance the field of criminal justice.
Employment Opportunities
Students pursuing criminal justice at Albany State University will have a number of career options after graduation. Exposure to many of these opportunities will take place prior to graduation, upon placement in one of our practical experience internships. Many criminal justice jobs currently offer incentives to persons who possess a criminal justice degree upon employment. With a criminal justice degree, students will have the opportunity to pursue local, state, and federal jobs. Jobs with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshall’s Service, Immigration, Internal Revenue, Department of Natural Resources, U.S. Post Office, and Department of Juvenile Justice are just a few of the opportunities that will be within our graduates’ reach.
How to Apply
While there is a formal application process that begins with the office of admissions here on campus, we encourage you to call our Department or stop by for a visit. Our criminal justice faculty would be delighted to spend some time with you and share with you the potential you can realize with our assistance.
