Introduction
Nipissing University’s new MES/MESc program offers students degrees in either Master of Environmental Studies or Master of Environmental Sciences. Both programs offer the training and development of graduates capable of contributing to the study of the environment and environmental issues and to the environmental problem solving of the future.
Graduates will be prepared for careers in government and industry, working in areas such as environmental policy, impact assessment, scientific research and education. Graduates will also be prepared for further advanced study (e.g. Ph.D. programs) in environmental studies/sciences programs and in specialized fields of geography, hydrology, history, biology, forestry, philosophy, ecology and teaching.
Students will be prepared for these endeavours by participating in a uniquely interdisciplinary program in which humanities, social science, and natural science approaches to understanding and solving environmental issues will be fully integrated.
