In order to successfully obtain a Masters qualification, you will need to obtain a number of credits by passing individual modules. Most taught Masters will have a number of core modules which you must take and pass in order to obtain the qualification. The assessment of research Masters is almost always entirely by a single dissertation module or project.
Students taking a Master in Languages will be able to demonstrate main concepts in a range of linguistic disciplines while developing expertise in linguistics procedures. In addition to language development, students will take an interdisciplinary approach which requires critical thinking.

The programme is well suited for students who are interested in studying how English is acquired in first and second language settings, as well as how the English language is affected by multilingual situations. In individual speakers, multilingual situations may cause one language to influence another, in particular in the acquisition process, and may ultimately also result in language attrition due to the lack of exposure and use of one of the languages. In societies, multilingualism and language contact may result in the development of new varieties of the language. Students admitted to the programme will be closely integrated into the research group in Language Acquisition, Variation and Attrition (LAVA: http://site.uit.no/lava/), which is an active and productive research group working on various aspects of multilingualism and multilingual language acquisition. The students will get the opportunity to carry out hands-on research with the members of the group. The programme provides a good foundation for work related to multilingualism in both the private and the public sector and is well suited for students who want to pursue a career within research....

Master in Training of Teachers of Spanish as a Foreign Language
In recent times the privileged position that has moved to the Spanish language among world languages and the consequent increase in demand for teaching Spanish have exposed the need to advance, research and training in this area.
Today Spanish is the second language of international communication and the fourth most spoken in the world (the mother tongue of over 400 million people in over 20 countries). The Master’s Degree in Comparative European and Non-European Languages and Literatures (LM 37) aims to provide students with a high level of academic education - primarily from a comparative perspective - in the languages and literatures of French, English, Russian, Spanish and German. Moreover, students will have the opportunity to focus on the extra-European variants of these languages and cultures (in the Euro-Mediterranean, Euro-American, and postcolonial areas). The programme is therefore meant to be open to the world, offering an international perspective on education, research, and cultural entrepreneurship.
In this view, starting from the academic year 2017/2018 the programme has considerably enhanced its international profile by providing all teaching in English, except for the specific language and literary modules taught in the relevant languages. Given its international nature, this programme is particularly suitable for non-Italian speaking students. In addition to specific foreign languages and literatures modules, this programme also focuses on various humanistic areas, such as philology, linguistics, literature, and comparative studies....
