With a focus on design research, theory and practice, the Master of Design (Interior Architecture) will prepare you for a career as an interior architect or interior designer. You will also gain an advanced understanding of the innovative, changing world of design.
A focus on practical, hands-on learning means you will not only gain the skills and knowledge needed to design stimulating, sustainable and visually appealing interiors, but also the confidence to embark on real-world projects. An industry placement is part of your studies.
The degree also focuses on design research, and you will complete an individual research-based project where you will be required to critically review, analyze, identify and propose solutions to complex design challenges. You will also study the development and application of research processes and, in conjunction with industry, will be given the opportunity to work on creative projects, developing skills in writing project proposals and presenting information.
Interior Architecture is one of several Master of Design specializations on offer. You could also choose to specialize in Industrial Design, Sustainable Design, Communication Design, Contemporary Art or Design and Construct.
All Master of Design specializations offer you the chance to benefit from industry masterclasses and learn from national and international design practitioners. You will study in state-of-the-art workshops and studios on campus and graduate from a University ranked in the World Top 100 and number one in South Australia for art and design*.
