Introduction
THE'Executive Master in EU Studies Is a program organized by the International Center for European Training (CIFE - www.cife.eu) in co-operation with Jean Monnet Chair of CEUTUS (Center for Turkish and European Studies) of the University of Cologne.
CIFE is a private training and research institute founded in 1954, headquartered in Nice and regional offices in Berlin, Brussels and Istanbul. CIFE receives special funding through the EU Jean Monnet program. Most graduates of CIFE programs are currently working with European institutions, international organizations and NGOs.
Through the Combination of e-learning and intensive stages of frontal teaching (At the weekend in Berlin, Budapest, Brussels, Nice, Istanbul and Rome), the Executive Master in EU Studies is an interdisciplinary study program designed for professionals, students, young people and all who want to take on a career Within the EU, who have already gained experience in this area and want to specialize in a specific area. The Master offers a balanced blend of theoretical and practical knowledge, with courses taught by university lecturers from several European countries, as well as experts from research institutes and national governments. The Master's value is 90 ECTS.
During the first year of courses, the program offers:
- An in- depth knowledge of the EU through a series of courses (Institutional architecture of the EU, EU Law, History of EU Integration, Transition and Regional Development, Sustainable Development, Security and Migration)
- Understanding recent developments in the European integration process
- Insights into EU procedures and policies
- The simulation of a European Council summit
During the second year, the program offers:
- An interdisciplinary approach to the study of recent developments such as the EU's institutional evolution, the global economic challenges of the Union, European citizenship, and at the same time in more specific areas such as the EU's role in international crises and conflicts , Issues of differentiation and cohesion in the Union, balancing common market policies with trade and sustainability
- The opportunity to create new synergies with teachers and participants
- A specific course on the European project management cycle
- The opportunity to increase specific expertise in drafting documents such as recommendations on specific topics,
- The ability to write a degree thesis on a specific theme of choice.
The Executive Master, with the ability to undertake online and on-the-spot studies, also offers the option of:
- Meet and interact with participants and teachers regularly on weekends
- Maintain a high level of motivation and study
- Fully dedicate to the program in a way tailored to the needs of each
You can complete the registration application all year round. The deadline for submitting the application is 5 September. A limited number of scholarships are available to the most qualified candidates and helps to cover part of the enrollment fees.

Curriculum
Our Curriculum – structured and focussed
The first year offers a range of compulsory and optional courses in EU history, political science, economics, EU law, lobbying, sustainable development and more.
The second year combines high-level teaching in the chosen specialisation with either a research track leading to a Master’s thesis or a professional track intensifying skills and competencies for the labour market.
Throughout the programme, we teach research and methodology based on the best practices of the academic community. Additionally, we offer skills and competencies training such as a Council negotiation and ECJ simulation, cross-country comparative statistics, policy briefs, economic analyses and legal memos, opinions and writs as well as project management, public speaking, presentation and debate.
Successful participants receive the title of Chargé de mission en organisations européennes et internationales (Policy Officer in European and International Organisations), officially recognised by the French state as well as the Executive Master in EU Studies awarded by CIFE.
Our Methods – virtual and personal
The Executive Master offers state-of-the-art blended learning through interactive online courses with moderated fora, regular teaching and recap webinars, own instructional videos and individual supervision online.
Our 8 intensive weekend workshops in Berlin, Budapest, Brussels, Nice, Rome and Vienna bring together participants and faculty in intensive teaching and skills workshops. CIFE organises briefings with experts working in governmental and policy-oriented institutions dealing with relevant EU-related issues in the given country.

Program Outcome
Participants who successfully complete the programme receive at the end of the academic year two certifications:
- The Executive Master in EU Studies: this is the diploma of CIFE as a private institute of higher education, certifying the successful completion and granting 60 ECTS.
- The degree qualification Chargé de mission en organisations européennes et internationales (Policy Officer in European and International organisations): this qualification is recognised by the French state as a degree at Master level. It is registered in the French national register of professional qualifications (RNCP) which lists all diplomas, degrees and professional titles recognised by France.
Scholarships and Funding
